this is the same as the summit-university description Summit Avenue, the longest boulevard of intact Victorian and Edwardian mansions in the nation, is the southern border of the Summit-University neighborhood. Adjacent to the famous avenue, recently named one of America’s 10 Great Streets by the American Planning Association how recent was this?, is the Selby-Dale district. This bustling retail area in the Cathedral Hill area of Summit-University includes dining establishments with lush outdoor patios, confectionaries, galleries, antique shops, French bakeries and coffee shops often located in historic buildings.

Summit-University also encompasses one of St. Paul’s lost neighborhoods, the Rondo Neighborhood: a vibrant center of African-American life destroyed by the construction of I-94. Still, the neighborhood flourishes with ethnic diversity, and is home to young professionals, creative entrepreneurs, families and retirees. The Cathedral of St. Paul marks the eastern terminus of Selby Avenue. To the north the Green Line light rail on University Avenue provides easy access to the markets, restaurants, shops and culture of St. Paul’s growing Asian and African communities.
