EDINA

Edina, a first ring suburb directly southwest of Minneapolis, is immediately recognizable as one of the most affluent cities in the Twin Cities metro area. They don’t call the city “The Bubble” and the residents “cake eaters” for nothing. While throwing shade, most will acknowledge that Edina is incredibly popular due to its reputation for public safety, historic immunity to negative real estate price fluctuations, top-ranked schools, and incredible amenities.  It is home to the nation’s oldest indoor mall, many public parks and golf courses, and the number 5 public high school in the state.

First, the shopping. Southdale Center is the oldest indoor shopping mall in the US, and includes a movie theater, a gym, department stores, and more. Right next door is the Galleria. Between these neighboring malls, there is a variety of upscale shopping, some of which aren’t found anywhere else in the Twin Cities.. Another shopping area is the 50th and France outdoor shopping district. This has over 175 shops, as well as a variety of restaurants. For more everyday shopping, Edina has over 8 grocery stores within its boundaries, and many more just outside.

Edina also has an abundance of outdoor recreation areas, including more than 40 parks, and 1,500 acres of open space. Some of the more notable parks are Bredeson Park, which connects to the Nine Mile Creek Regional Trail, and Centennial Lakes Park, with mini golf and a man-made pond for paddle boating in the summer and ice skating in the winter. For the golfer, Edina has 5 golf courses, including both public and private courses.

Finally, Edina is in a great location with many highways running through it, allowing easy access to Minneapolis, St. Paul, Bloomington's Mall of America, MSP airport, and Lake Minnetonka.
